- What is Bench32?
- =======================================================================
-
- Bench32 is a system level benchmark that tests how well your system performs
- various tasks. These tasks are separated into the following catagories:
-
- -Processor Test
- -Memory Test
- -Disk Test
- -Video Test
-
- A series of tests are performed for each of those 4 categories.
-
- - Not your average benchmark! -
-
- Bench32 doesn't just run a few loops to verify that your components
- exist, it is a high level, statistical, analysis tool. Bench32 will
- perform stastitics on all tests performed (if a long test is specified)
- so that you receive a score that is accurate as possible. Means,
- distributions, standard deviations, weighting schemes, rejection analysis,
- error propogation and regressional algorithms are all subjected on the
- data that is taken taken from benchmarking. Bench32 can even tell you
- if the benchmark performed accurately or not within 3 levels of accuracy.
- From the standpoint of accepting scores as legitimate, Bench32 will do
- all of this for you leaving you with the duty of saving files.
-
- Bench32 uses a very wide range of the Win32 API to fully test the capabilities
- of a Win32 based system. This includes:
-
- 2-D and 3-D animation,
- 3-D rendering,
- photoeffects,
- other special effects,
- metafile transforming,
- fractal geometry,
- figure drawing,
- Pixel drawing,
- Bezier and other advanced API drawing,
- Synchronous and Asynchronous Disk I/O,
- Cached and Uncached Disk I/O,
- Direct and Sequential Disk I/O,
- True System Ram Performance testing,
- CPU and FPU testing,
- Single Processor and Multiple Processor Testing (up to 32 processors),
- And much, much more.
-
- Bench32 adds the ability to mail scores to multiple persons using both
- MAPI and TCP/IP.
-
- Bench32 also adds the usefulness of saving files while still retaining
- the ability to integrate those files back into the benchmark. This means
- that a person sending his scores for his SMP machine to another person
- who uses Bench32 on a single processor machine with different hardware
- will view the data as if he were on the SMP machine (from the single
- processor machine).
-
- Bench32 adds many usefull graphs who's data is saved with each file.
- These graphs can also be printed out.
-
- Bench32 doesn't just stop here as far as data analysis goes, it allows
- you to run real time counters to detect: how much CPU time is being
- used by each and every processor in the system, how many context switches
- are being made per second, how many interrupts each processor is
- experiencing per second, how many times an application has to page out
- to auxillery memory, how much memory is available at any given instant,
- and how often an application pages out to disk (thrashing). These figures
- can often be used to analyze any deviations that might have been seen
- in benchmarking.
-
- ======================================================================
- What can Bench32 do for you?
- ======================================================================
-
- Bench32 can allow you to properly analyze your system with very thorough
- and precise tools. It also makes it simple to view and share the data
- with others. Bench32 can help you pinpoint any problems that you are
- experiencing in your system, or give you insurance that your system is
- performing up to par.
-
- =======================================================================
- How Do one use Bench32?
- =======================================================================
-
- One simply has to install the application and click on the Start
- icon. There are tool tips available with each icon that will guide
- you through what each icon means.
